JOB OPPORTUNITY: ENGLISH TEACHER AT HOPE HAVEN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL – FULL-TIME POSITION

Hope Haven Christian School is seeking a qualified and experienced English Teacher to join its Education Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, learner-centred instruction while supporting students’ academic, social, emotional and moral development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The English Teacher will be expected to:

• Plan, prepare and deliver effective lessons according to the approved curriculum and schemes of work.
• Prepare annual, termly, weekly and daily instructional plans, including lesson plans and learning resources.
• Use learner-centred teaching strategies that respond to different learning abilities and needs.
• Integrate technology and digital learning tools, including tablets and educational technology platforms.
• Promote students’ critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive and positive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom discipline, attendance and student welfare.
• Prepare and administer assignments, quizzes, tests, continuous assessments and examinations.
• Assess students fairly and provide timely and constructive feedback.
• Monitor academic progress and provide additional or remedial support where necessary.
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations.
• Guide and mentor students in study habits, time management, personal development and career opportunities.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, colleagues and school leadership.
• Participate in staff meetings, workshops, professional development and school activities.
• Support clubs, sports, educational trips, assemblies and other co-curricular activities.
• Maintain accurate student records and respect the confidentiality of academic information.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Studies or School Management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject with a recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject-content knowledge in the area of teaching.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Applicants should have:

• At least 5 years of teaching experience at secondary school level, or as determined by the school policy.
• Experience in competency-based or learner-centred education is an added advantage.
• Experience using educational technology in classroom instruction is desirable.
